Next Town Board Meeting for the Town of Stark Scheduled for January 13, 2026
The next Town of Stark Town Board Meeting will be Tuesday January 13, 2026 at the Town of Stark Justice Court Building in Starkville. The official address is Town of Stark, 703 Elwood Road, Fort Plain, NY 13339. The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM and is the organizational meeting of the new Town Board.
Local Election Results
Local Elections were held on November 4, 2025. Election results will be posted on the website once they become official. Preliminary results are as follows: County Legislator William Keeler, Supervisor Richard Bronner, Town Clerk/Tax Collector Eleanor Smith, Town Council John Voght, Marie Armstrong and John Valenta and Highway Superintendent David Hajczewski. There were numerous write-in votes cast and absentee votes need to be counted. Once results are official, the final totals will be posted. Thank you all for participating.

A public hearing on Local Law # 3-2025 titled "A Local Law to Regulate and Monitor Junk Storage in the Town of Stark" was held on July 8, 2025 meeting of the Stark Town Board. Revsion and changes had been made at the workshop meeting May 19, 2025 and approved at the meeting June 10, 2025. The revised version was updated and has been included below as "Local Law # 3-2025". The revised version was adopted July 8, 2025 and is identified as Local Law # 3-2025 (Adopted 7/8/2025).

The Resolution supporting the local law consolidating the Town planning board and the zoning board of appeals was discussed at the May 13, 2025 meeting. The public hearing for the Town of Stark Local Law # 2-2025 consolidating the Planning Board and Board of Appeals into the Zoning and Planning Board of the Town of Stark, was held at the June 10,2025 Town Board meeting. The public hearing for Local Law # 2-2025 was continued to the July 8, 2025 meeting of the Town Board. Further discussion was had and the public comment hearing was closed. The Town Board moved to adopt Town of Stark Local Law # 2-2025. By a vote of 3 in favor and two opposed, Town of Stark Local Law # 2-2025 was adopted and is listed in the meeting minutes below.
New Town Clerk And Tax Collector Business Location
Town Clerk and Tax Collector Eleanor Smith announces the Town Clerk and Tax Collector business will all be conducted at her residence at 793 Wiltse Hill Road, Jordanville, NY 13361. The phone number to call for an appointment is 315-985-0405. The change will occur on December 20, 2024. Until then, the Clerk will be in Starkville at the courthouse building during the posted business hours. This will provide the public with more hours of availability for Town Clerk services.
At the April 8, 2025 meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Stark, the Board moved to abolish the office of elected Tax Collector and assigned all duties and records of the Town of Stark Tax Collector to the Town of Stark Town Clerk. The Town Clerk shall assume the duties of collecting and receiving all state, county and town taxes and assessments on January 1, 2026.
